Overview

Rome-Ciampino "Giovan Battista Pastine" Airport (IATA: CIA, ICAO: LIRA) is Rome's second airport and one of central Italy's main low-cost hubs, with around 5.4 million passengers per year. Located just 15 km south-east of Rome city center, it is the closest airport to the city and to the Castelli Romani. Opened in 1916, it is one of the oldest airports still in operation in the world. Today it is served predominantly by low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air, with direct flights to numerous destinations across Italy and Europe, and it is also an important hub for private aviation (executive jets) and cargo flights. Thanks to its compact size, disembarkation and baggage claim times are very fast. The airport is connected to Rome by shuttle bus and by a bus + train combination via Ciampino station, but its proximity to the center makes a private transfer particularly convenient and quick: in about 30-35 minutes you reach the heart of Rome, the Vatican or the Castelli Romani towns such as Frascati and Castel Gandolfo.

Terminals

Ciampino Airport has a single compact, functional terminal on one level, handling domestic and Schengen international flights. The structure is small in size, with very fast walk-through times (exit from baggage claim in 10-15 minutes). The arrivals area has a clearly signposted public zone where your driver will be waiting. All private transfers pick up passengers directly at the arrivals exit.

Where to find your driver

On arrival at Rome-Ciampino, after picking up your luggage, exit toward the public arrivals area. Your driver waits holding a personalized sign with your surname. As this is a compact airport, the arrivals area is easy to spot: the driver is visible as soon as you exit the automatic doors. We automatically monitor flight status and in case of delay the driver waits up to 60 minutes after the actual landing at no extra cost.
