Overview

Rome-Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport (IATA: FCO, ICAO: LIRF) is Italy's main airport and one of the busiest in Europe, with over 40 million passengers per year. Located about 30 km south-west of Rome city center, on the Tyrrhenian coast in the municipality of Fiumicino, it is the main hub of flag carrier ITA Airways and the intercontinental gateway to the capital. It serves domestic, European and intercontinental flights with direct connections to over 230 destinations across every continent. The main operating airlines are ITA Airways, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air France and Delta Air Lines. The airport is connected to central Rome by the Leonardo Express train (direct to Roma Termini in 32 minutes) and by FL1 regional trains, but for travellers with luggage, families, or those heading directly to their hotel, the port of Civitavecchia or the Castelli Romani towns, a private transfer is the fastest, most comfortable and stress-free solution. Fiumicino has repeatedly been awarded Best Airport in Europe in its size category by ACI Europe, thanks to modern terminals, high-quality services and a wide retail offering.
